Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga is situated at Srisailam on the banks of the Krishna River, surrounded by the dense Nallamala forest. This is the only Jyotirlinga where both Shiva (as Mallikarjuna) and Parvati (as Bhramaramba) are worshipped together. According to the Skanda Purana, visiting Srisailam is equal to visiting all Jyotirlingas. It is also simultaneously a Shakti Peetha — one of the 18 sacred shrines of Goddess Parvati.
The only Jyotirlinga where both Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshipped in the same complex — double the blessings in one pilgrimage.
Set amidst the Nallamala Hills with the Krishna River flowing below — the natural beauty adds a deep meditative quality to the pilgrimage.
Srisailam holds the rare distinction of being both a Jyotirlinga and one of the 18 Shakti Peethas — an incredibly sacred dual status.
The temple's stunning Dravidian architecture, dating back to the Kakatiya period, is a masterpiece of South Indian temple art and sculpture.
A scenic boat ride on the Krishna River near Srisailam dam offers breathtaking views of the surrounding forested hills and the temple in the distance.
Skanda Purana mentions that visiting Srisailam alone is equivalent to visiting all 12 Jyotirlingas — making it extraordinarily meritorious.
