Vishwanath Gali — Uttar Pradesh
Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi is the most sacred Jyotirlinga of all — the Golden Temple that stands in the world's oldest living city. Varanasi (Kashi) is where Lord Shiva himself grants moksha (liberation) to all who die…
Kashi Vishwanath — the Golden Temple — is the most revered of all 12 Jyotirlingas and the holiest shrine in Hinduism. Located in Varanasi, the world's oldest continuously inhabited city, the temple has been demolished and rebuilt multiple times. The current temple was built by Maratha Queen Ahilyabai Holkar in 1780. In 2021, the magnificent Kashi Vishwanath Corridor was unveiled — transforming the approach to the temple into a grand spiritual promenade stretching to the banks of the Ganga. Dying in Kashi is believed to grant moksha as Lord Shiva whispers the Taraka Mantra into the ear of the departed.
The evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat is the most spectacular spiritual ceremony in India — a symphony of fire, bells, chants, and thousands of devotees.
The new Kashi Vishwanath Corridor connects the temple directly to the Ganga ghats through a grand promenade of temples, galleries, and sacred spaces.
Varanasi / Kashi is over 3,000 years old — older than history, older than tradition. Walking its ancient lanes is like walking through time itself.
Hindu scripture says that dying in Kashi grants moksha. Lord Shiva is believed to whisper the Taraka Mantra to the dying — ensuring their liberation.
A pre-dawn boat ride on the Ganga past the ancient ghats — watching the city wake up in the golden sunrise — is the most iconic spiritual experience in India.
Kashi has over 2,000 temples in its 8 km radius — including Annapurna, Kal Bhairav, Sankat Mochan Hanuman, and Tulsi Manas Temple — an unmatched spiritual circuit.
